Day of Week Saturday
Date 6/26/10
Time 7 pm
Description With a career that spans a remarkable five decades, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has gone from a hippie jug-band to pioneers of Country Rock, and their influence is still being felt today. Formed in Southern California in 1965, NGDB has sold millions of albums, won several Grammy Awards, played with the legends of American music – and has the remarkable distinction of being the first ever American band to tour Russia. They are also known for their hits “Mr. Bojangles”, “Buy For Me The Rain” - and most of all - for their two-volume album classic “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?”, featuring legendary guest artists Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris, Vasser Clements, John Prine, Ricky Skaggs, John Denver, the Byrds’ Roger McGuinn & Chris Hillman, Roy Acuff, Bruce Hornsby, Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Hiatt and Levon Helm. Joining this wonderful band on stage in support, is singer/songwriter Larry Bagby, reprising his memorable show from last season at the Lake.
